GitDesk
A native macOS workspace for local Git repositories, commit history, file diffs, and development services.
Why I built it
Working across projects makes checking changes, pending commits, and running services repetitive. GitDesk combines a repository overview with focused project operations in one native window.
- Swift
- SwiftUI
- Git
Actual interface
Actual GitDesk window captured on 2026-10-26. Repository status is a local snapshot.
What it does
Repository overview
Scan local repositories, search and filter their status, pin projects, and reorder the sidebar.
Commits and diffs
Inspect history and file changes, stage and unstage files, commit, pull, push, and synchronize.
Development services
Discover Node and Go startup commands and manage processes, ports, and logs in a separate window.
Current scope and limits
Requires macOS 14 or later. Local builds use ad-hoc signing; no notarized installer is offered. Branch switching, conflict resolution, line staging, and force pushing are outside the current scope.
Screenshots document a running interface; this page does not embed the application. Public access is available only where a project website link is shown.
